WBC Middleweight Champion Sergio Gabriel Martinez outclassed the former undefeated 26 year old Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in their 160 lbs weight limit fight at Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America. The aggressive Martinez easily out-boxed Chavez Jr. starting from round 1 to round 11. Martinez throws more accurate solid punches and some counter punches than Chavez Jr. resulting with a bloodied nose and mouth. Martinez just played around and used his head and body movements to avoid Chavez's offense.Chavez Jr. returns at round 12, started to throwing heavy combinations which he did not able to do during the previous rounds, exchange heavy punches and sent Martinez on the ropes. Earlier after the end of round 10, Coach Freddie Roach said to Chavez Jr. that there are 2 more rounds left and it needs a knockout victory in order to win it. And in the final round (12), Chavez Jr. started so aggressive and hurt Martinez a couple of times. Chavez Jr. landed a huge combinations and sent Martinez down on the canvas. Clearly Martinez got hurt and stood in a wobble legs but despite of it, he still managed to control it and survived the painful round.
The dominance of Sergio Martinez from the first 11 rounds has resulted in judges who scored a unanimous decision victory for him. Three judges scored the bout 117-110, 118-109 and 118-109. This is the first loss of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in his professional boxing history.
